Evening gowns for the godmother
It is said that the dress worn by the godmother of the couple should have certain essential aspects. Of course, it’s recommended that the godmother isn’t more beautiful than the bride, due to the fact that the bride has to be in the middle of the attention.
It’s certain that the godmother is an important character in the wedding, next to the couple and their family, so we have to take her into account as well.
The evening gown that the godmother wears has to be as elegant as possible – as fluid and shiny as it can. The classic evening gown is suitable to this context. Even if we’re speaking about a long evening gown, draped, in tough colors or in degrade, or if we’re speaking about a little black dress, on that it’s modern with ruffles on the skirt, the godmother has to have a festive attitude due to the fact that she’s an important character next to the bride and groom.
In what concerns the color that the godmother has to choose for her evening gown, it’s recommended that she wears a color that advantages her and be in coordination with the eye color or with other accessories. The appropriate colors for an evening gown for the godmother are going to be in dark red, red, purple, black, black and white, silver or gold. These are powerful colors that go out of patterns; it’s preferable that the particular color of the godmother’s dress contrasts with the bridal gown. In no case you can wear white, cream, because the guests are not going to know who’s the bride and who’s the godmother.
It’s more elegant for the godmother to wear a dress made in a single color, eventually accessorized with taste. She can apply for the embroidered fabric or different prints, especially if the wedding takes place during the summer when it’s really hot, but a single color is much elegant and indicated for a gown that is worn in special occasions.
In the church, it’s recommended that the godmother wears her shoulders covered in order to keep her decency. At the party she can wear a more elegant bridal gown; usually the godmother has two gowns – one for the events during the day and a more elegant piece and sophisticated that is worn during the wedding reception.
In what concerns the length of the evening gown that the godmother wears there are some unwritten rules that of course don’t need to be taken into account. The length of the evening gown should be equal with that of the bridal gown.
So, if the wedding dress is long, the evening gown worn by the godmother can’t be short. And, how in most of the cases the wedding gown is long, that of the godmother should be long as well….
